Courses — Spring Semester 2010This is the site of the online resources for the courses of Paul Roberts, instructor of Digital Communication at Houston Community College. The domain name — www.absentmind.net — makes direct reference to the notion of The Absent Minded Professor. So anyone who takes the term pejoratively can put that aside. This guy has a brilliant mind. The courses listed to the left are part of the Web Publishing degree and certificate programs in the Digital Communication Department at Houston Community College Southwest. If you are enrolled in a course that I teach, I welcome you to your class. As you can see, I am teaching courses covering a variety of Web technologies. Wherever you find yourself in these courses, I hope you will find your experience enjoyable and useful. The links at the left navigate to your class. Select your course to find information that will be helpful during the semester. Depending on your course, you may find classroom demonstrations at this site. Feel free to access them and download the code for your benefit. I do this instead of printing code on paper. You also will find updates and announcements here as well. I am working on making the site more dynamic so it will be more useful to you. Please visit here often for announcements, corrections to the syllabus, changes in scheduling. In the event the college must close due to storm or other emergency situations, I will post that information here for you, providing Internet access is available during those times. I try very hard to give quick feedback on your projects. For that reason, I have set up an email account for submission of assignments. I must reserve that email account for assignments only. If you have questions for me, you may either leave a message on my voice mail or ask me in class. I cannot answer email questions. Please do not put me in a bulk mail list. I will block any address that has done this. I do not wish to be rude to anyone. I only need to keep that address free and accessible to better serve you. I look forward to working with you in class. Have a successful semester. Paul Roberts |
